Carol Glover
Treasurer
treasurer@glassernz.org.nz

Carol was first introduced to the work of Dr Glasser, specifically Choice Theory and Reality Therapy, while working as a full-time new entrant teacher at Wilford School.  Throughout her teaching career she has attended many training courses, but none have had such a profound effect on her, as this course had.  It changed the way in which she taught and interacted with children; the ways in which she interacted with others, as well as encouraging her to take stock of her life.  She has completed her Advanced Intensive Training and now works as a teacher with a sound and happy work/life balance.

She is married to Steve and has three busy sons - Lui (20yrs), George (14yrs) and Jake (12yrs).  Her interests include travel, socialising, walking and decorating.

Barbara Hay
Training Officer
training@glassernz.org.nz

Barbara is the principal of Koraunui School in Lower Hutt.  The majority of school staff have been undertaking Choice Theory training.  In her quest for information about Glasser Quality Schools she has visited a number of schools in the United States and Koraunui School staff have now committed to working towards becoming a recognised Glasser Quality School in New Zealand. Barbara is keen to extend understanding and use of Glasser’s work to the wider community, in the hope of effecting positive change beyond the school gates, and is happy to help groups and individuals organise training programs.

Kerry Lowe and Janene Huggard
Hawkes Bay

hawkesbay@glassernz.org.nz

Kerry and Janene are both Resource Teachers for Learning and Behaviour in the low socio economic community of Flaxmere, a suburb of Hastings.   Their Glasser training has been a great help in working with both children and teachers. They both have Certification and have been promoting the ideals of the Institute in their area for some time.

They love to travel and have been to many places around the world in their breaks from school.  They also love to have fun with their two young grandaughters whose parents are Glasser 'naturals' without any intervention from Kerry and Janene .

Their hopes for the WGI-NZ is that the Glasser ideals take off in their local schools  and can be seen as a growing support for teachers in classrooms.

Wellington

wellington@glassernz.org.nz

Since undertaking her Diploma in Education of Students with Special Teaching Needs in Auckland in 1994, Mary has known about the work of Dr Glasser.  She started her training in Choice Theory while working at Felix Donnelly College in South Auckland as the acting Principal and considered both Choice Theory and reality therapy to be a real and positive philosophy and practice for the seriously at risk students she was working with. She later moved to Christchurch for 18 months before travelling overseas, and while she was there she joined the management committee and continued her training. She then moved to London for 3 years and completed Certification while attending the 2005 Dublin Glasser Conference. She is now settled in Lower Hutt and working at Taita College where she is Head of Learning Support/SENCO.
